About Our Blog

Thanks for visiting! I created this blog to share updates on my family and how grateful we are for all the blessings the Lord has given us. I am happily married and the busy working mommy of two very active little boys. We enjoy raising our family and making memories together. I blog about the ordinary adventures of family life and my many other mommy-interests.

Fried. Frito. Pie.

That's right. I said FRIED FRITO PIE. Folks, it just doesn't get better than that. We tried it out at the Texas State Fair on Friday along with a fried twinkie which was almost as good. Unfortunately we didn't get a picture of this tasty, gooey bit of deliciousness, but you will have to take my word for it - it was great! I did, however, manage to get lots of other photographs of all the fun and festivities that make up our country's largest state fair. The highlights: the bulldozer exhibit, the petting zoo, the food and the Kidway. Last year, James rode rides but this year he was SO into them. He picked out what he wanted to ride and excitedly hopped off one ride eager to run to the next one. Last year, Brendan was only about 6 weeks old and stayed in the stroller or in my arms the whole time. This year he tried cotton candy and toddled around in the shade under the trees. Daniel and I can't wait until next year when we can all hop on the rides together and the 4 of us can devour the classic fair must - eat.....Fletcher's corny dogs. The Texas State Fair is a Duffy Family Tradition and one of my favorite parts of Fall.

One More Day With You

A friend of mine lost her son last weekend. My heart is just broken for her. There really aren't words for the sorrow I am feeling for the family. After the funeral, my friend took my hands, looked in my eyes and spoke words that jarred me and set me on a quest to follow her directions exactly. She said these words: No matter what they do or how much your boys might drive you crazy or what wild trouble they may get into as teenagers, get on your knees every day and thank God you got to spend one more day with them.

So boys, here is what I could do if I knew I had just one more day with you.

Hold you.
Squeeze you tight.
Tell you I love you.
Tickle you.
Snuggle with you.
Fly kites.
Sing songs.
Skip rocks.
Pick flowers.
Tell you I love you.
Play outside.
Give you a bubble bath.
Breathe in your smell.
Hold your sticky little hands in mine.
Bake cookies.
Tell you I love you.
Take photographs.
Read books with you both on my lap.
Run through open fields in the warm sun.
Memorize your faces.
Soak up your laughter.
Pray with you.

I'm going to make every day special and worthwhile boys. And I am going to get down on my knees and offer up thanks and praise for you two - my most unmerited blessings. I love you both and my life has never been so wonderful all because I am your Momma.
